"Taylor is truly one of Canada's most original and outstanding artists [that] I have worked with... His sense of melody & song structure, along with an amazing skill as a performer, will soon be revealed to the general public."

- Eddie Kramer, Grammy-Winning Producer/Engineer
(Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Beatles, Brian May, Carly Simon)

“Taylor's live show is absolutely electric. When we toured together, I loved watching how audiences remained transfixed by Taylor's talent & wit. Absolutely brilliant songwriting and performance.”

- Flamy Grant, Billboard-Charting Singer/Songwriter

Like a maple leaf in a gust above the prairies, Taylor Abrahamse blissfully glides beyond the borders of song, gender & genre with his/her soaring vocals, social conscience & hook-laden hammerclaw songsmithing. A Paul Simon/Prince/Jim Carrey crossbreed, (s)he’ll leave you laughing, moved, and even singing along - if you can reach that high.

Starting as a five-year-old Elvis impersonator, at age 6, Taylor vowed to hold onto a sense of play as he got older, and saw a career in the arts as the path forward. This resulted in early acting roles, including the ABC biopic ‘Inside The Osmonds’ where he played a young Jimmy Osmond, and a recurring role on ‘DOC’ where he acted alongside Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus. At sixteen, he was a finalist on Canadian Idol, and began regularly playing across Ontario while getting his BFA in music at York University.

Since then, Taylor has become a Kerrville Newfolk & Four Winds Emerging Artist Winner, FAI & NERFA formal showcase performer, as well as a Mariposa Emerging Artist finalist. Recent appearances include many Canadian Pride Festivals, The Four Winds Music Fest, 12-stop Homeroutes Ontario & Alberta house concert tours, and North American tours with stops such as Club Passim, Caffe Lena, Godfrey Daniels & many more. Taylor has also either co-billed or opened for Hawksley Workman, Susan Werner, Flamy Grant, Spencer LaJoye, Sage Christie & more.

From 2017-2020 Taylor created his Factor/TAC supported debut album in partnership with the great Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, KISS, etc), who insisted on co-producing & mixing Taylor’s work out of love for his songwriting. Its release sparked four singles, 120K streams across all platforms, acclaimed self-created music videos, airplay across Canada & the US, and a Deluxe Edition.

In late 2021, Taylor entered a tumultuous race to save his long-time Toronto rental home and professional recording studio, Silverthorn Studios. Despite relentless effort that secured wealthy investors & competitive offers, Taylor was shocked and devastated to ultimately lose the property. Co-founded & managed by Taylor, Silverthorn featured 6 rooms, took 2 years of construction, and ran for almost 8 years for Taylor & the Toronto arts community. During its final weeks, Taylor tracked versions of over 120 unreleased original songs, with many guests. In 2023 Taylor released some of these tracks as ‘Live In Lockdown Vol 1’. Making use of more of those recordings as well as new ones, Taylor plans to release an O.A.C-funded E.P throughout 2026. In the meantime, she's also released an ‘official bootleg’ solo concert, recorded in September '24 at folk institution Godfrey Daniels in Pennsylvania, and other singles.

However, you’re unlikely to find much of Taylor’s music on Spotify, as Taylor has organized concerts that double as ‘Spotify Quitting Parties’ to simplify the transition away from the dubious platform.

2024 was the first year Taylor openly performed in her genderfluid identity - finding joy, courage, learning curves and body curves along the way. In 2025, Taylor also spearheaded & organized the first-annual ‘Fredathon’, a livestream concert featuring performances of almost every Queen & Freddie Mercury song that raised thousands for Point Of Pride, a charity who provide resources & care for transgender people in especially vulnerable sectors of the US. The nearly 18 hour livestream was largely performed by Taylor, and also featuring pre-taped performances from Ron Sexsmith, Flamy Grant, Ryan Casatta, Susan Werner & many more.

In addition to her solo career, Taylor has written musicals, and writes regularly with artists & songwriters emerging and established including The Accidentals, Max Parker, multi-platinum writers Jeff Franzel (N’Sync, Josh Groban), Liz Rodrigues (Celine Dion, Eminem) and more. She has also written & performed music for many projects including the feature film 'About Fate' starring Emma Roberts, the feature ‘Magicland’, ‘Superwish’ (Teletoon), and ‘Fangbone!’ (Disney XD), one of many animated TV series in which Taylor also stars in and/or plays supporting characters. His original songs & productions for online media such as Super Planet Dolan, Headspinner Productions & Corus Entertainment have been heard over 21 million times.

In mid-2025, Taylor also managed to turn her post-Silverthorn suffering around; purchasing a small home in Peterborough Ontario where she’s now created a new recording studio for herself and the community.

"Holy s***. Taylor Abrahamse is the first surprise of the morning. “Hellooooo” he sings powerfully from the stage, immediately stopping in their tracks every person... From there, we are off on an astonishing showcase of vocal ability and performance chops that are so impressive I almost forget to mention that he is also a mighty impressive guitarist. ...it’s abundantly clear that he’s spent a lifetime cultivating a voice that can do literally anything… This is a classic case of a guy who could captivate you singing the phone book." - Heather Kitching, Roots Music Canada at Folk Music Ontario - Full Post Here.

"Taylor has struck gold somewhere in the funky Neil Young/Randy Newman mountains. While the collection has a foothold in the golden era of songwriting, the subject matter and the way it’s assiduously handled anchor it firmly in the now. A standout debut from a talent that has arrived." - Lenny Stoute, Cashbox Canada - Full post here.

"I am so enamored with this delightful debut album release. Taylor and his team paid attention to every creative detail. You will never get bored of listening to any of the well crafted songs." Full Interview with Makeda Taylor - read it here.

"Taylor's the only songwriter I know who can write songs in one improvisatory pass that sound as good as something that would take the average talented Jolene months to craft. Every Taylor show features some completely off-the-cuff material mixed with sincere and humor-infused platinum-clad songwriter originals, soaring counter-tenor vocals, and intricate acoustic guitar wizardry."
- Bryn Scott-Grimes, Singer/Songwriter
